About Us

Thermax has been in operation since 1982 and is headed by Ian Cromarty (who holds an international level 2 qualification, and a qualification in industrial engineering) together with a team of trained personnel. We use the very best equipment and have the accumulated experience to offer you the best insight and problem solving solutions to any abnormal conditions. Thermax can survey equipment that others do not have the image libraries, the techniques or experience to survey reliably. In addition to an image, our reporting provides a detailed description, location and cause of the fault, analysis of the fault and solutions to faults. An assessment of the current risk from the fault is reported. An explanation as to the cause of a fault is provided. Recommended corrective action required to rectify the fault will be recorded on the typed fault report. This requires insight into possible causes, as well as knowledge of the working conditions and loading on the electrical equipment or installations under survey This will reduce the time and cost for your staff to repair the fault since the cause of the fault will have been identified and the correct spares installed if our recommendations are followed. Temperature rises above the threshold temperature and any abnormal thermal profiles will be reported. Thermal images are clear and are recorded with equipment that has functions to locate the source of the heat. This aids to identify and locate the source of the fault. The temperature at the source of the fault and the rise above normal temperature, which is an indication of the severity, will be on each fault report. Notes are taken to bring risks and deviations from standard practice to your attention, which need not be related to electrical wiring but are in the surveyed area. A summary of all the faults is provided.

The report containing the thermal images and software to view the Infra Red images is installed on a suitable PC. If the PC is on a network, permission from the IT department will be required to gain network access. With this installation, you may print selected faults reports at your convenience. This also gives you the ability to analyse the fault yourself if you wish to confirm our observations. Thermax aims to provide a service that can focus attention on the correct action for repairing and eliminating a potential failure of equipment, machinery, and plant `down-time'.

This company aims at providing a top quality service. Since Thermax reports are used in risk assessments reports, we aim to uphold the highest standards of service and will liase with you for special requests and suggestions you may have.

Thermax has experience in industries of various types, including mines, textile mills, manufacturing plants, buildings, shopping malls, sugar mills, breweries, oil refineries, and the metallurgical industry. Experience is essential to know where and how to look for faults, for the correct interpretation of infrared images, and for tracking, locating and identifying the cause of faults. Incorrect procedure and interpretation of thermal images can lead to either a fault being overlooked, or `phantom faults' reported. Thermax can accommodate different size installations by being able to provide more than one technician on site.
