View of terminal strip for outgoing cables

Terminal strips are often neglected but are a common source of problems. The following conditions have been identified as causes of problems on terminal strips:

1. the heads of terminal screws are damaged
2. the threads are stripped.

Bottom of the circuit breaker. Busbar connections

Notice heat at connection between busbar and circuit breaker. This busbar was fixed with two grub screws which have begun to work loose due to vibration in the panel

Cable connections between bottom of contact and top of overload

High temperature on conductors : A common problem originating from the construction of the starter panel. The connector size is too small for the contactor terminal and the conductors running at maximum rated capacity

Bottom of contactor, multiple cables to terminal

A common cause of problems especially when cables are of different sizes. This problem is caused by the terminal compressing on one cable only while the other cables are still loose in the terminal. Thermax aims to identify problems which arise from poor wiring practices so as to alleviate future problem areas.
